Sahg has carried the torch of doomy heavy metal faithfully since their debut album Sahg I shook the metal world in 2006. Nine years on, the band looked death straight in the eye when two band members left simultaneously in 2015. But Sahg rearose from the near-dead last year, with two new members in place, and their fifth album, fittingly entitled Memento Mori (remember that you must die).

The band's near-death experience and the passing of rock legends Lemmy Kilmister and David Bowie, were among the main inspirations for the new album, which insistingly reminds us that we are all mortal. Memento Mori bursts with newfound, dark energy, and the praise that followed the release proved that Sahg had come out of its existential crisis stronger. International metal media rated the album highly (Deaf Forever, GER: 9/10, My Global Mind, US: 10/10, Metal Hammer, NO: 9/10), and Memento Mori ended up on several Album Of The Year lists.

In late 2016, Sahg headed out on a European tour as direct support for Swedish prog giants Opeth, as well as co-headlining club dates with Finnish psych rockers Jess And The Ancient Ones. The tour continues in 2017, and you can expect a band that will perform as if life depends on it. Because you never know – that might just be the case.
