Maraton is a new and intense act from Norway, mixing the realms of pop, rock, metal and prog – unbound by the iron chains of the progressive music genre.
By molding together inspiration from the wide range of bands like Mars Volta, Muse and Meshuggah, the band enables a distinct and iconic soundscape of technical drums with pristine precision, earth shaking bass, glistening guitars and an almost sacral in tone vocals.
Despite this strange and wonderful mix, the tracks present themselves as surprisingly refreshing and catchy, and at the same time timeless – something to be enjoyed and absorbed through more than one listen.
Imagine a situation where the body is in complete disarray. The main component of what held your being together was taken away – like a phantom pain, where a person once was a part of you, no longer is there. The track ‘Blood Music’ was primarily created to highlight a mental and psychological state of mind when someone dear is lost. When you find yourself in solitude, and you feel as though you must build yourself up from the ground. The song also tells the story of breaking a long lasting relationship.
