«I sum en riktig utvikling og sannsynligvis bandets mest varierte plate til dato. Med andre ord enda mer Kvelertak er fortsatt mer av det gode.»
- Torgrim Øyre, Dagbladet
«Kvelertak runder rocken med et tredjealbum som spruter av like deler glede, brutalitet og overskudd.»
“This album is nearly a masterpiece… Kvelertak are at the peak of their powers, and ‘Nattesferd’ is their best record yet.”
– Metal Sucks
“It’s all of Kvelertak’s most ambitious and audacious instincts stacked up end to end in a tower of hard rock triumph.”
– Treble Zine
“Kvelertak defy the very idea of categorization in favor of just playing some damn good rock ’n’ roll.”
– Consequence Of Sound
“Come the end of the year I’d expect ‘Nattesferd’ to be right up there in most ‘album of the year’ polls; it’s nearly a masterpiece.”
– Pure Grain Audio, 9 av 10
“’Nattesferd’ is definitely a swing back towards the memorability of their debut, packed with expertly crafted songs that will rile up concert goers the world over.”
– Heavy Blog Is Heavy
“’Nattesferd’ (the song) is a perfect encapsulation of all Kvelertak’s riotous, genre-agnostic, ridiculously catchy strengths, bolstered with some unexpected new sounds (such as the clean vocals on the chorus, which come out of nowhere and lift the track to unexpected heights).”
«Man skulle ikke trodd det, men etter seks år og tre album er fremdeles Kvelertak til å miste pusten av.»
«En brannfakkel i natten»
«Kvelertak spiller live i studio, synger om 80-tallet og lykkes med å prøve nye ting.»
– Aftenposten (Asbjørn Slettemark)
Front man Erlend Hjelvik commented: “We are finally getting ready to release our third album NATTESFERD on the world and however cliché it may sound, I'm not afraid to say that this is our best one yet! An exquisite smorgasbord of riffs infused with everything between the best of classic rock and heavy metal. I'm certain it will blow the minds of both old and new fans. Enjoy!”
Recorded live in Oslo, Norway’s Amper Tone Studio, NATTESFERD is produced by Kvelertak and mixed / engineered by Nick Terry (Lindstrøm, Turbonegro, The Libertines). It is the first of Kvelertak’s albums to be recorded in their home country of Norway. NATTESFERD is already garnering “Most Anticipated” accolades from the press with Rolling Stone featuring it in their ‘25 Most Anticipated Metal Albums of 2016’ round-up. Additionally, Stereogum placed the new LP at #36 on their ‘101 Most Anticipated Albums Of 2016’ while Consequence of Sound included it in their ‘20 Most Anticipated Metal Albums of 2016’ preview.
Kvelertak released their self-titled debut album in the summer of 2010. An album that received universally great reviews. Labelled ”the best Norwegian debut album of all time” by Norwegian rock authority Asbjørn Slettemark and ‘the best Norwegian band since A-Ha” by Simon Young of Kerrang, the album delivered near perfect marks from magazine reviews across Europe, US (Import) and Australia.
Following the album release the band started to build their awesome live reputation, supporting Converge and Kylesa on their first European tour. They undertook their first Norwegian headliner tour in fall 2010, and another European tour with Coliseum late 2010. In addition to this, they recorded a live session for the UK’s BBC Radio 1 and played festivals including Sonisphere, Eurosonic and Leeds & Reading. All this and more European touring.
If the band thought they couldn’t top 2010, they were wrong. 2011 started even better. In Febuary 2011, the band were awarded two Norwegian Grammy’s and won the prestigious Statoil Stipend at Norway’s by:Larm music conference, an award given to the artist most likely to have international success. The band played in the US for the first time in March 2011 in support of the US release of the album, a trip that included three killer shows at SxSW, resulting in the band being one of the most talked about artists at the festival.
On their return to Europe the band joined Comeback Kid on their European tour, and their reputation as a potent live act grew even further with media running out of superlatives for their furious live energy and catchy metal inspired punk rock. Kerrang stating, “Kvelertak are the most exciting new band on the planet”. The first release was certified Gold in their native Norway in June 2011, with the band being presented with their Gold discs by Dave Grohl when they supported the Foo Fighters at a sold out show in Norway’s largest indoor venue, Telenor Arena.
Kvelertak shamelessly draw inspiration from every corner of something that could fit into their idea of good hard-hitting and catchy rock'n'roll. Regardless of genre, but always truthful to the basic idea of the band; good songs performed with the tongue-in-cheek attitude of their punk-rock pioneers.
Unlike the majority of heavier bands they sing in their native language – adding even more character to their already unique sound.
